I would like to personally offer you a very warm welcome to my website. My name is Pete, I'm a professionally qualified therapeutic counsellor and registered member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapist's. I practice mainly in Brecon and surrounding areas. Although, I can also travel dependant on your needs across Wales and the UK. I work within a humanistic approach in collaboration with you as my client. Equally, I am able to draw upon an array of other therapeutic approaches and interventions with the ultimate aim of working safely to meet your counselling needs and expectations.
I have a particular interest in working with children and adolsecents (11 years old +). The main reason for this is because of my personal belief; that early intervention offers young people a better chance to develop greater resilience, trust and awareness of themselves when considering the complexities of our modern day society.
I have gained valuable experience in working with adults, children and young people in a school and community setting on an array of complex presenting issues. The insight I have been able gather from these experiences, led me on a path to further my professional development. I have gained a postgraduate diploma in specifically working with children and young people. There are many different aspects to consider, when working with children and young people safely. My specialist training has provided me with greater knowledge, understanding and the capacity to competently work safely with these types of clients. The safety of children and young people is a fundamental aspect in the process of their counselling.
The world we live in is evolving at a far greater rate in comparison to human evolution. The impact this can have on us as people both psychologically, emotionally and physically is wide ranging, from anxiety, depression, eating difficulties, sleep difficulties, stress, low self-worth, anger, suicidal thoughts, self-harming, self-blame and psychosis to name a few. It is important to know you are not alone in struggle. Being able to talk or communicate them, however you chose is an important step. It is not easy and understandably takes huge courage to make that first step.
As a fully registered member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapist's. I have a professional obligation to work within an ethical framework for the safety of you as my client. I abide by their code of ethics in having a duty of care, both professionally and legally for your wellbeing as my client. I also hold an up to date enhanced DBS certificate.
My ongoing professional development is a vital part of ensuring, I as your counsellor continues to practice competently, through enhancing my capacity to work at all times in the best interest of you as my client.
